Bottled water has become a booming industry, especially in the United States. In 2011, more bottled water was sold in the U.S. than ever before, a total of 9.1 billion gallons, which was about 29.2 gallons per person. One gallon of water would fill more than seven half-liter (500 ml) bottles, which translates to about 221 bottles of water per person per year. That’s a lot of water.
Also, the mouth of the Klean Kanteen bottles is much wider than that of the Sigg bottles. Ice cubes (both old-fashioned cubes and the half moons of ice maker s) will easily fit in the Klean Kanteen, while no amount of force will make even the smaller half-moon cubes go into a Sigg bottle. I’ve seen special ice trays you can purchase to make ice cylinders that will fit in the Sigg bottles, but I’m too lazy to make special ice for my bottles — especially since my best ice makers ice works in the Klean Kanteens.
You should drain all of the water out of the tank of your hot water heater at least once every three to six months. Draining all of the water out of the tank helps to prevent sediment build-up at the bottom of the tank. This sediment can cause the tank to bang or to heat less efficiently.
Many foreclosed homes on the market will be in need of small general repairs and updates. You will likely experience homes with wild paint schemes, old flooring, outdated kitchens, bathrooms in need of renovation and so on. When you enter a foreclosed home, make note of what is needed and try to calculate the cost of the repairs. This will either confirm or deny if the house is truly a bargain or steal at the price that it is listed on the market.
What should you expect to find with foreclosed homes? Remember that most previous owners were forced out and sometimes in a hurry. Banks that foreclose on the home will come in and clean up messes and trash left behind. They will also padlock all doors, which will usually destroy the doors or at least require replacement locks. Beyond the obvious, expect the house in general to be dirty, perhaps smell from mold or mildew within the home, expect toilets and bathtubs to look awful from lack of use. There may be water damage from frozen pipes and so on. This is expected with foreclosed homes as they stand vacant for months or even years.
Keep an eye out for appliance sales. Many times national retailers like Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowes put on specials. The cost for a refrigerator, dish washer, microwave, vent fan, and oven/range is combined to a manageable level. You may even be able to score a two year same as cash financing option. Again, be sure you do not overspend.
Avoiding these top five mistakes will help you and your guests to enjoy your dinner party. You will be less stressed and gain confidence. Kudos to you for your desire to give this wonderful gift of delicious food and warm hospitality to your family and friends!
